Just what Canadian police need, in a country where being a tow truck driver is more dangerous. May as well keep the one incapable of college/university safe. LoL

Wow some of you guys sound like Fudds when they see a black rifle on the range...

While this is still pretty cool its a pretty standard armored vehicle and I'm willing to bet pretty much every Canadian city has one or two at their police HQ, at least every city with an ERT team anyway. some of you just may not have seen them in the wild yet.
Armored vehicles are a pretty standard tool for metro police departments anywhere in the world, while not used much they can serve a purpose. This style of truck is the new standard now, many police units have long ago given up their older "brinks van" type of armored trucks for these for a little more versatility and ease of maintenance (ford parts).
If your really worried about it be thankful you live in Canada where police practice a bit of subtlety with the big toys, last year driving from Montana to Denver along the way in Wyoming damn near little trailer park town I drove through the local police detachments along the highway had multiple MRAPs in their parking lot for towns that couldn't have been for than 3000 people, but who knows maybe they needed them down in that territory.

Your right, its a way to keep stealing more money from the taxpayers. Our police dept has a Camaro or two in its fleet, and a helicopter that is used mainly to wake people up at night .

The MRAPs in the US were originally picked up because they were surplus from the pullout of Afghanistan and Iraq and basically being given for free so a lot of LEO looked at a way of replacing older hardware with newer stuff at a bargain, the catch is there is no such thing as a free horse. The maintenance on the things are pricey.
