    SHOT SHOW 2018: Steiner

Of all the booths that I visited, Steiner had BY FAR the best customer service! They actually had two booths and the product specialist walked with me from one to the other and showed me EVERYTHING! So to those of you who claim that SHOT show people have no time or patience for media, take that!

In terms of binoculars, Steiner had a few introductions such as the Shadow Quest, essentially a revamped Night Hunter designed for low light applications and available with 8x or 10x magnification.

Next an updated version of their civilian range finder, the LRF 1700, now good for 1700 yards.

The shell of the LRF 1700 is very similar to the military model however the internals are different. The military model, M830R LRF, is good for 1800+ yards, is not visible to night vision (the civilian one is), and has Bluetooth so it sends your rangefinding readings directly to your Kestral…man I need one of these!!!

    If you thought Steiner’s Military-Marine 8x30 was small….

Check out the new 10x25! This thing is tiny! And also very reasonably priced...i believe it is under $300.

Meanwhile at the other end of the size spectrum, the venerable 15x80 compass model

Another one of my favourites of their lineup, the 10x42R with reticle

Binouculars as far as you can see (you see what I did there?)

I will have to check my press kit for details on all the new scopes…

This one being currently used by the German Special Forces caught my eye

As did this one, the ICS Intelligent Combat Sight, which integrates a laser rangefinder and a ballistic calculator. Per Steiner, the laser instantly provides distance to the target, and calculates an illuminated, trajectory-compensated aiming point based on ammunition ballistics, measured distance, and angle to your target out to 800 meters.

The DBAL A4 has built in white light

While the A2 does not, however you can get this very cool setup where you link the A2 to an external white light and it can automatically shut off the DBAL when the white light is activated (the link is not shown in this pic)

    Pistol sized laser, the SBAL

And this barely scratches the surface of their huge product line. Steiner is one of my favourite brands and it was a real treat to visit their booth(s).

I assume you mean the civilian version...i believe the previous generation was around US$2500 so i imagine this would be somewhere close to that
