    SHOT SHOW 2018: Tactical Walls

I have always liked the concept of “hidden in plain sight” so I was very intrigued by Tactical Walls when I discovered them on Wanstall’s website. It was great to finally see them in person and I fully intend to get their large shelf.

For those of you not aware of this product line, essentially they are gun safes, compliant with storage regs, designed to look like furniture. Most feature opening with either magnetic or RFID “keys”. One thing to consider is that the RFID runs on battery and if the battery fails the shelf will default to the open position so you don’t want your batteries to run out when you are away on vacation! Prior to battery failure, it will sound an alarm like when a smoke detector battery gets low.

    The pistol shelf

    Coffee table

The sliding mirror requires a cut-out in your drywall.

The newest, the MODwall panel system for your safe room…the panels are sold in sets of (2). Each panel is 48″W x 22″H, and may be hung either separately, one above the other, or side by side.

Good for your guns and Lucille…not the actual one used in the Walking Dead but made by the same guy so it is an exact replica!

shouldn't that bat have random pieces of human brain matter on it?

    I'm disappointed

Ive seen those hidden shelves and walls before. They are a good idea for storing in plain sight. I'm surprised that they ate not much more popular.

I one day will build the headboard one. Only because I think it’s a neat way to store a gun.

    It's kind of like that.

My only gripe about the tactical walls is the magnet you use to open them (at least for the versions I've seen to date). I'd love to see a more positive locking system, like a simple pushbutton combo. I would fear losing the magnet you need. But otherwise an awesome looking product.

A carpenter buddy of mine builds the shelves from oak. We bought one for my father in law’s birthday last year. I imagine I’ll get one one of these events too.
