Sightron all the way. Glass and clarity you would expect to pay 2-4xs the amount for depending on the model.
What do you guys think about the Nikon Black X1000 6-24 x 50 ? Gets good reviews. Not a FFP scope but I have seen it on sale for a decent price. ($650 ish)

I'm in the same boat, I sold my side by side so I purchased my Beretta, S&W 500, BLR and RN-50 within the last month. My RN-50 just came in yesterday but now I can only afford either a scope OR a stock lol. I think I'm going to look into some of the suggestions here for optics, just pistol grip it for now and cross my fingers I won't end up needing dental work... it's just a little .50 though right...
It's going to hurt, but just a little. I got 2 valve springs that are the perfect diameter of an AR buffer tube and about 1" long each and machined a solid steel bar to fit between them in the tube. It adds about 2 lbs to the weight of the rifle but will be a decent shock absorbing device I hope. Pretty sure the RN bucks a fair bit . .Originally Posted by TA0502

TA0502 you can find AR stock kits cheap enough to get you up and shooting $65.00 or so and you can sell the buffer and spring as they aren't needed.. I put a standard carbine on mine for now (already had it). I'm thinking like OP is though and wondering what to put into the buffer tube to help absorb some recoil. Lead bar? Cerrosafe maybe (pricy though ) I wonder if leaving the buffer and spring in will absorb any recoil at all?
I did just buy the Serbu bipod from OP though so now I can concentrate on a scope to replace my Bushnell and get it back onto my 700.
Hopefully by this summer I can save enough for a decent scope, Vortex maybe? At least I can now shoot properly/safely when my bipod shows up next week.
The cheaper AR stocks hold up OK? I was worried about the recoil damaging them and ending up wasting money.
You have to put a buffer tube on anyway, use the cheap stock for now and upgrade to a better stock later. My money is going into a good bipod (done) and a half decent scope first before I upgrade the stock at all. Cheap stock kit will get you shooting but just mind what stock you will eventually upgrade to and buy the kit with the right tube.i.e. carbine or rifle length and commercial or milspec dia. I used a carbine stock only because I already had it in the parts bin for my AR's.
If you're flexible on magnifications it's tough to beat the bushnell 10x 40 tactical, leupold made a great fx3 that was similar but has just been discontinued. You may find a used one or old stock. They were just discontinued in 2017
