    Please talk to Canpar as well. $2.25 insurance premium per $100 is ripoff. You need to negotiate better for your customers and your business. You have lost business because of this. Your operation is top notch with local shipping being the only site point.

    Stop paying for that insurance. Your customers have to pay for that and get nothing in return. It is complete nonsense. For many reasons:
    1-CP doesn't lose many packages. Yes, it sucks when they lose yours, but overall, they lose FAR from 2.25% of the total worth of what they move around. In a risk/reward analysis, that insurance is worth maybe a few cents;

    2-Every package comes with a 100$ insurance included. You'd think that it is almost irrelevant on a 1500$ firearm, but they hate paying claims, of any amount. So in the unlikely possibility that they lose a package, they'll move heaven and earth to find it and avoid paying for the claim, no matter how much the claim is for;

    3-In the case of restricted firearms, it's completely useless. Again, in the unlikely scenario where they lose a handgun or an AR, the customer would have to call the CFP to get that unregistered, and explain how CP lost the thing. If that doesn't trigger an rcmp investigation, then a simple call from said customer (or from you) to the rcmp explaining how a package from "IRunGuns" has disappeared in transit will trigger an investigation. To be sure, they won't stop everything they're doing and send a 100 ponys after that package, but a simple call from an officier at HQ to CP of the kind "You need to find that gun, who's the last person that handled this package, we'll have a chat with him" will somehow magically make it reappear. For once the rcmp would work for you instead of against you.

    But again, it doesn't make sense. You don't insure something unless the risk of that happening is unbearable. Individually, the price of any one gun isn't an unbearable loss for you.

    Look at it from a different point of view: if you had kept all those 2.25$ from canadian shipping since you've entered the canadian market, could you have paid for all the packages that have been lost by CP(if any)? Add up all the money you've spent on insurance, and all the claims you've been paid, and compare the 2 numbers. There's no way you've claimed more than you've paid. Far from it.

    And btw, that insurance only covers the loss of the package, not any damages to it or its content. As long as they bring a box with your address on it, they're not liable for anything, not matter what shape the box or its content is in.
