well said... it always amazes me that there are people out there that still think meat grows on Styrofoam... and milk and eggs are manufactured behind the cooler door at the grocery store....sigh

"Looking after each other" also means keeping up to date on what's happening regarding criminal activity in your own area. We should be making a habit of checking the "Canada Police Report" on a regular basis.

    http://www.canadapolicereport.ca/201...-of-foothills/

In the example link we see a burglary in Okotoks with the criminal's faces (and the vehicle that they used) clearly seen on video. This kind of info really needs to get out there! Start checking the "Canada Police Report" regularly and forward what you find to others in your area. The next step is keeping these pukes in jail once they're caught...

^ Great resource Autolite. I was unaware that existed. While we disagree on scale of force to prevent theft I completely agree that community awareness is key. My community south of MJ is very small and it is quite evident when “outsiders” are around. People take note and our crime rate is damn near zero.

I suspect that there are a few folks here who might not be aware of the "Canada Police Report" (that was the reason for the post). When I had my car stolen, I had pics and a description of the thief (and his accomplice) posted all over social media. And I got my car back (undamaged) the very next day thanks to an 'anonymous' caller who saw it online. I had people who contacted me from THREE PROVINCES AWAY who saw pics of my car on Facebook!

Video cameras are everywhere now-a-days. It's just too easy to get the pics of the crooks and criminals out there online everywhere. I would suggest that home and property owners take multiple pics of their portable equipment, recreational vehicles, cars, trucks, boats and tractors. Keep the digital pics on an easy to access computer file. If something gets stolen, give the pics to the cops and get them online ASAP.

If you have or can get pics of the thieves too then all the better. You can bet that they too have 'enemies' who would more than happy to rat them out to the authorities...

As a person WELL versed in the law and Section 26 of the Criminal Code: What should be implied when two junkies are breaking into your home? Will they abide by some " Thief code of Conduct" and abandon their compromised mission or kill you for being a witness? Maybe take a turns with your wife? Worse has happened in my province in the past few years.

The bigger issue is that the perpetrator has more rights than the victim. I know that sounds cliche but look at Colton Bushie. The lies upon lies that were ripped apart in court and eventually the native gang admitted to being on a crime spree. The CBC STILL paints Bushie is an innocent kid just asking for some help with a flat tire. The person defending their families are arrested, eviscerated by the media and left a social pariah while the suspects are given as benefit of the doubt (as required by law) and free legal aid in most cases.

Then is no more fear on the part of the perp they are cared for and given a pass if their rights were inadvertently breached.

Also if this still sounds like right-wing prop' please look at what happened today in Calgary court

Sending out the message that fellow gun, home and property owners are willing to help each other out in this kind of situation is as important as the money itself. I'm still hoping that this FundRazr campaign will eventually take off. The potential is certainly there. Consider that the GoFunMe campaign for the Humboldt tragedy raised 12 million dollars in just ten days! That's over one million dollars a day!

That kinda result really gets media attention and that's what we want to be doing too...

Yeah I put my donation in but only because I heard about it here. The CBC has a coast to coast audience but would NEVER tell us that there was some legal defense fund for an evil murdering gun owner.

This just further underscores that we can't expect nor hope that the government will "do what's right". It's up to us to look after one another. That's what this Maurice FundRazr is all about. The laws are not going to change to deter the criminal. We are alone in this fight...
