    ADJOURNED AGAIN!!!

"She said they're still waiting on full disclosure from the Crown, specifically for an expert forensics report she says their case will likely hinge upon.'

Sad news. I was really hoping that today the charges would be dropped. The Crown, it seems, is playing some sort of game. Next court date is 18 May...

A comment from Tonii Roulston (the Maurices' lawyer) pretty much nails it! This underscores why we need to start looking after ourselves.

“So we take these charges very seriously, so do we want them to be withdrawn or stayed? Yes, of course we do,” she said, adding her client’s “mistake, I suppose, is calling 911 and expecting help instead of getting arrested."

It's also encouraging to hear that having the charges dropped is still a realistic possibility. Roulston says that this is what she is pushing for...

Why are the Police laying charges against people protecting themselves and their property? I bet if it was a Police Officer on his day off he would protect himself and his family the same way. They killed a guy in the airport and didn't even get charged. Four armed Officers against one unarmed person. Later they were charged for perjury. Double Standard?

Because in the Crown's (not Police) eyes, everyone is equally guilty under the law. Also because the Gov't believes the social contract for violence lies with the Gov't exclusively, they will fiercely defend their turf. Individualism VS Communalism
    Yep, it's like that.....

When Harper was Prime Minister he said that a legitimate reason for owning a firearm was for home security in rural areas. He was heavily bashed by the Left for claiming that. The Liberal government is careful not to do anything that might effectively deter criminals because they know that criminals form a large portion of their core supporters...

A large portion of their party members, chronys, appointees, and elected politicians as well.
A free society must outlaw harming innocent people to function, but when we seek to curtail what all of us can do, rather than holding each of us responsible for what we actually do, we give up on freedom itself.

We really need to fire the RCMP and hire our own provincial police force in each province. The RCMP work for the government, not the people.

What "we really need" is for the laws that favour the criminal to change. But that's just not going to happen. Most certainly not under any Liberal government anyway. Canadian society has degenerated and deteriorated too far for any hope of that.

Our only real option that we have left are campaigns like this FundRazr. It is said that "You only get as much justice as you can afford to buy". Crowd funding for the victims' legal defense is now our only hope for any sort of 'justice' at all...

Not working out so well for Ontario with the OPP, and from what I hear in Quebec, the SQ are awful.

I agree strongly. I prefer provincial police vice RCMP for routine police duties.
However the root of the issue lies with our justice system at the core not the RCMP.
It's the courts not the cops that are pursuing this guy and trying to destroy him for defending himself/his property. Let's be clear on that for sure.
Guns only have two natural enemies; politicians and rust.
