We all saw for ourselves when we donated. And I'm quite sure most of us tipped the minimal 5%. No big deal. Like i said, gofundme has to get their cut and they don't charge the fundraisers a dime so it has to come from somewhere.
But to each his own. I hope you manage to get a hold of the lawyer and still get your donation in. It is still a good fight.

I just looked at the three options which were 5, 10 and 15 percent, and picked 5. Seemed like enough. I only donated 30 in USD, so it was a $1.50 cost.Originally Posted by toomanyhobbies

If they were honest and just said they apply a flat rate 10% commission I'd likely have been okay with that. Demanding tips is not acceptable business practice.
Seems that the "other" option is if you are feeling particularly generous. Just the wording, I don't thing they are fooling anyone, just wording it so it sounds friendlier.
That's odd. I never saw an option for 5%. 10% is way too much. And I still hate the idea of calling it a "tip" because that's a lie. GoFundMe blows, and they are anti-gun, as in don't bother trying to fund anything to do with shooting sports. Don't want anything to do with them.
Regardless, it's a great project and I wish it every success. I will get a donation in there somehow ...
