Its not the same. This is basically the CBSA ignoring the actual correct interpretation of the law and making up their own. They also ignored the rcmps interpretations and case law proving these are legal. They are also branding and charging people with attempting to import prohibited goods. All in all, its not the same and must be fought.
For the love of making. AFisherKnives.com

Has anyone tried taking the CBSA to small claims court or something over this to recoup costs for illegally seizing items? It only costs something like $75 to do so and you can prove they are not prohibited under Canadian Law.

Nothing happened. CBSA is still continuing on as they have been and doing as they please. Were you expecting otherwise? only 11,000 people bothered to sign the petition (which would have no real effect anyways seeing as petitions with ten times that amount of signatures still have no effect) and only 216 people took the extra step of actually donating even a few bucks to the court challenge - which may still have a chance if the lawyer that originated it hasn't gotten discouraged and given up due to the lack of response (and donations) from the public.... if no one really cares, why would she bother to pursue this?

There's too many people out there who will do little to nothing, until the wolf is knocking down their door ... but by then, it's too late.

    Sad

Take it this is dead in the water then eh?

Assuming the Libs get tossed next election can the CBSA ruling be overturned or since their own tribunal came to this conclusion will it stay this way until another tribunal ruled in our favor?

over 11,000 signatures on a petition that has no ability to do anything other than be read into the official government record... and that has not even happened yet; despite the petition having been closed for almost 6 months. I think the petition's sponsor may have forgotten about us.

The court action seems to be plodding along at a glacier's pace but has inched its way up to 9 grand in funding (with still only a total of 226 contributors).... https://www.gofundme.com/canadian-kn...w-suit#updates click on "updates"....

Sadly, I fear that nothing is going to happen because no one really cares.

Well, we knew the petition probably wouldn't have any real effect but we gave it a shot.... Thanks to everyone that signed. The court challenge is now our only hope. Please visit the go-fund-me page for the court challenge, read the updates and donate if you haven't already.

Cowardly and incompetent politicians are the downfall of a nation.

It is frustrating me that our petition was clearly not even considered or understood.

Now who is the real threat to public safety?
