    Looking at my lower, there is a little bit of material where the safety selector detent hole joins the safety selector hole. Is this just excess material from manufacturing?

    Mine had that too. Just use the solid end of a safety or a punch that fits the hole. Spin it a few times and the excess material will come off. You may also find that the safety retention pin hole needs the same too.

    Typical NEA/BCL quality control....
