The side panel that contains the slide rail is made from 4140 htsr and should never wear out. With all of our testing we have only seen a slight polish to the surface with no wear to speak of. The barrel locking system we designed does not allow for standard AR-15 hand guards, so we have developed a wide range of our own hand guards fully licensed with Magpul.

    FAQ on the NoDak/RWA/IRUNGUNS 180B

NR/FRT? – Yes the NoDak Spud already has an FRT and the rifle is Non-restricted

Will Uppers be available separately, and will they be complete? Yes to both.

Will there be customizable options? Yes, a full line of foregrips will be available. Range Warrior Accessories also offers an extensive line of Brakes, Scope Rings, and Rails which are high quality yet affordable. All will get distributed through IRUNGUNS.

What is the Upper made from? Blood, Sweat and Tears….and a combination of Anodized 6061 Alum and 4140 Nitrided Steel.

What are the other parts made from? Most are 4140 28-32RC steel and then Nitrided. A full specification post will be coming soon as well.

Shouldn’t you use 7075 instead of 6061 for the upper? None of the wear points on our upper are made of 6061. Our design ensures that any wear points are made from 4140 Nitrided Steel. So 7075 would only add additional cost to the project.

Are there replacement parts available for the original 180B? Hell yeah. RWA makes replacement/upgraded parts for the legacy 180B.

Has it been tested? We thought about just assuming it all worked….but where’s the fun in that!
1000 rounds have been fired from our original prototype with 2 failure to fires (due to ammo) and 0 failure to ejects. The latest rifle has had 750 rounds through it in 3 hrs with 0 failure to fires, 0 failure to ejects, one melted rifle rest (as we did not have the foregrip yet). And more rounds will be going through it soon.

Will the upper fit on the Wolverine WK180C? Unknown, as we haven’t handled the WK180C. But if they stick to the original design of the 180B, it should.

Should I buy the RWA version or should I buy the Wolverine version? Yes….yes you should.

Does it use AR15 Barrels and can I switch them out? Yes…any AR15 Rifle length barrel. And with our barrel locking system, it should take around 10 minutes to change out a barrel using standard tools. However, we have included upgraded barrel, so you may not need or want to.

Fine then, what Barrel do you have standard on the rifle? It is a BCA Manufactured AR15 20”, Black Nitrided, 4150 Steel, .223 Wylde chamber, Spiral Fluted, Rifle Length Gas System, with a 1:8 twist. Reviews on this barrel state it is capable of 1” MOA when shooting good ammo.

Isn’t that a heavy profile barrel? Yes it is, however fluting does reduce weight. And with feedback from customers, we decided to go with the accuracy and high quality.

Does it use an AR15 barrel nut? No, we have a proprietary barrel lock system (as above), but don’t worry, we will have multiple versions of the foregrip so that you can customize any way you like. Plus, once the initial runs are completed, if you want to design your own style, RWA will be able to quote you a one of a kind foregrip

Will it be able to use Magpul? Yes, we are officially licenced with Magpul for the use of their technology. Our foregrips will be fully customizable with Magpul accessories and there will be many customizable options for foregrips.

Is it a Canadian rifle? Mostly Canadian. The NoDak lower is imported from the US. The internal parts for the lower and upper, and the upper itself, are made in Canada….Calgary, Alberta to be specific. This is inclusive of springs and pins that could be bought out of the US, but we have made in Alberta. There are 6 different Alberta businesses that get work from RWA due to this project.

Why use a NoDak lower instead of making your own? We have the benefit of a machine shop of 17 CNC machines at our disposal. We could very well make our own lower. However, that lower would still need to go through the FRT process, which would delay rifles getting into the hands of Canadians. There would also not be any guarantee of it getting an FRT. NoDak already has an FRT. Really it was a no-brainer.

Why the “NR tax”? There isn’t one. We have designed the upper and all the components with quality in mind. RWA is all about quality, and will not sacrifice it to put out a lesser part, rifle or accessory. There are many other NR rifles on the market that are less expensive that you have as options if price is the primary concern. We cannot comment on the quality of other rifles, but can stand firmly behind the quality and engineering that has gone into our own.

Pre-orders as a gofundme, WTF? We agree. Taking large deposits in advance of delivery can be used as a gofundme campaign. This is why we released on Easter weekend, with our deliveries starting in June. Our pre-sale is only for rifles that are currently in production. It has always been RWA’s policy to be the Canadian Company that has stock available for it’s customers. We aren’t taking payment on anything that we do not have a delivery date for. When we release a product, that is because it is finalised, is in production and available to the customer.

What is the weight of the rifle? Current weight estimate is 7.5-8 lbs. When the new barrel comes in, we will update with accurate weights.

Why IRUNGUNS, and why USD for stuff built in Canada? IRUNGUNS is already the distributor of the NoDak lower. When the working partnership with NoDak was done, it was only logical to bring IRUNGUNS into it as a distributor for not only the rifle, but all of the other accessories for RWA

Wait…what other accessories? You have no idea. The 180B project is just one product for RWA. We will be releasing full lines of Brakes, Scope Rings, Parts Kits, Rails, as well as modular options for the 180B. These releases will be in the next couple weeks. Parts are already completed, we just need to get the word out.

The rifle sounds pretty good…I wish there was a way I could win one. Well, you are in luck. We are giving one away. If you sign up for our newsletter email list (on Mailchimp), before 6 April, you will be entered into a draw for one of our first production rifles. Here is the link for it.

Do you have any other design projects in mind? Always

What are they? Well, we have this really exciting project where we take….what…oh, okay…sorry, I’m being told that as is our policy, we don’t release a project unless we are 100% sure on the production side of things.

Can we buy the uppers or accessories direct from RWA? That is being discussed with IRUNGUNS; most, if not all, of our parts will be available on their site, as our distributor.

Your version is ugly…how come? Yo mama.

Why the side panels? Why not just make it all out of Aluminum? The answer to this is twofold. We added the side panels so that the upper could be made from Aluminum (to keep the weight down), yet the wear points could be made from Nitrided 4140 steel. It also allows us to create multiple options for customizability. Left hand charge…brass catchers…brass deflectors…left hand eject…you get the picture. These options will be made available near the end of the summer or early fall. Those could be easily changed out by the user.

The panel design and barrel lock is also under Industrial Design Patent Pending.

Can I get a left hand charge? See above

I don’t like the modern look, can I get a retro looking AR180b? Two ways to get a retro one. 1. buy an original Armalite 180B. RWA produces parts kits for the legacy rifle, so that you can upgrade internal components of it. The NoDak Lower will also work as a replacement for the polymer original lower. 2. If there is enough interest, some changes to our design can be made to give a more retro look. However, producing a small run of retro looking uppers will be more costly, so the numbers would need to be there to keep costs down. Plus our concentration right now is on getting the current version into people’s hands as soon as we can.

Why are you guys so awesome? Good breeding I guess….

Not sure if they have one in Edmonton but go check it out if you get a chance or see one at a show.

Same platform? Yes. Same thing? No.

There is a reason the AR15 has a price range per maker.

In speaking with the rwa guys at the Calgary show they had not one bad thing to say about Wolverine or the 180c... in fact they hope it is successful as more success in Canada is good for all gun owners and businesses.

Ive been looking for an upper, but at that price I will wait to pick up a Kodiak upper for less than half the price. That is way too much for an AR180b upper. Id reconsider, if the price difference was in the 20-30% difference in price , but not for double the price.
