I would prefer having forward assist, not because it's needed but because I want it. I find AR's look kind of naked without it.
I seem to be in the minority but I would prefer no FA. I like the look of the slick side.
The FA was a bad idea from the very beginning and Stoner objected to it but the all knowing US Army insisted. If the round does not chamber there's a problem that needs attention. By forcing it into the chamber you could end up with more problems than you will have by ejecting the round and diagnosing the problem. We are not talking here that you are under attack by ISIS lunatics and you need to get the rifle firing the round or you're gone, in other words in a desperate situation. Eject and diagnose.
