You see that depression in the BCG where the gas ports are?
That's what that is for. To use your thumb to press the bolt in battery. And to pop open the dust cover.

People ride the bolt home and close it with the FA for less noise.

Only hunters know the use of the FA. The paper shooters couldn't care less. We need FA!

Why not just chamber a round at the start of the hunt. Then flick the safety off when in position or when an animal presents ?

If you are in and out of vehicles hunting on private land, you need to be able to chamber a round quietly. The fa is the better option.
The main advantage for me with the fa is the large shell deflector as I shoot left handed

Chambering a round isn't any nosier than driving your truck around. No FA needed.

Yeah given that the uppers with the FA require a larger bar of aluminum a nice sized shell deflector will likely be able to be milled from the block. The design on page 1 shows a small screwed in deflector on the non FA upper which is less than ideal and could potentially work loose over time.

IMO there is no downside other than cost to having FA, only advantges. I will happily pay the $100 for FA and a larger integrated shell deflector.
