Not sure why you are posting this. This article doesn’t mean anything to commercial releases by FN. FN can not make TDP guns, only for the US military DND contracts, they can not release guns for the civilian or LE for sale. Just US military. These FN M4A1 for example are made in a different plant. Not the same plant that the USMC gets there FN guns from.

Big oof on the prices. Can't you build a colt le6921 for less money than this for a genuine colt m4?

lol. Hey man they look great but I’m just being honest. Sure a lot of the TDP has slipped into there production on some levels, just telling factual truths here. There not made in the same plant as the TDP compliant guns for US military DND contracts.

All FN15, M4 & M16 are made in the same factory in Columbia, South Carolina.

Curious about the front sight. Detents for range or is that for optional grenade launcher?

    It’s a MATECH rear sight

I’m assuming your talking about the rear

It’s adjustabke for range of the rifle not a grenade launcher accessory

    It’s a really nice rear sight and I’m glad I own 2

FN very more than likely is using parts rejects to make these civilian guns. The TDP contains absolutely everything to make a gun for the DOD, from metal alloy compositons, metrology inspection processes, manufacturing processes, machining steps, surface finishing processes, surface metal hardness, through metal hardness, final surface finishes hardness and color, etc. You wouldn't believe how insanely throughout the M4/M16 TDP is. Colt, FN and all manufacturers who make guns for the DOD have inspection laboratories.

If a part or a batch of parts doesn't meet the requirements highlighted in the TDP specs exactly, it can't be used to make DOD guns. A blotchy finish on a part that doesn't fit into the allowed pallet of colors and light reflection is rejected. Those are the parts that get used to make civilian guns. Doesn't mean the parts are bad or inferior, they simply don't meet the TDP.

For example I'd wager they got around the TDP for these civilian lowers by not grinding off the forging flash from the raw forgings, as we can see in the pictures.

That "separate factory" myth is the same thing as Remington's "special separate 870 Police factory". It doesn't exist, it's make-believe.

Even if that is true, they cannot use the TDP for these guns. They don’t have the rights, only for US DND contract they were awarded. That’s it. Colt owns the TDP.
