The question becomes : how could an LEO, a crown prosecutor, or a judge be able to tell the difference between BC mags that were manufactured the day before the charger pistol was, and BC mags that was manufactured the day after?

Last I checked, that's their job. I'm innocent until proven guilty, if they think I've committed a crime they need to prove it. If they can't prove that my mag is made post-charger then I have broken no laws.

I get your point. So now what? Carbon date mags to see if RCMP can lay charges? The mags were designed for the 10/22 receiver NOT the Charger specifically. Saying that it works with a Charger was simply marketing.

Since words on a box kicked all this BS off, all BX25 mags sold in Canada should have a sticker with the words "Not for use in the 10/22 Charger". There ya go; imaginary damage has been undone.

unfortunately its not that simple. Justice system need to be able to make clear determination to deem what is a prohibited device and what isn't.
If two mags are identical, cannot be told appart, and both fit in the same gun, you can bet your top dollar both will be deemed prohibited. Owner might get off due to their legality when acquired with proof of purchase + the lack of criminal intent, but I'm willing to take bets the mags would still be deemed prohib and destroyed.

    found the cop ^

joking! but seriously the cops at my range are really tired of getting asked about this everytime they do some range days. They are as confused as we are as there are cogent arguments on both sides

Lol im not a cop, and im just as upset as the majority about this situation. Im merely trying to be objective, and IMO the way the law is written is the true culprit here, not the rcmp. And im upset about that too, because getting the law changed is a lot more difficult and complex than winning a court case against a law enforcement agency.

You all realize that the same rules that apply here is what allows to have 10 round LAR-15 magazines?

A good solution would be to abolish rimfire magazine restriction on pistols... The thought of un-restricted PMR-30 in 22mag? Mmmmm

And I would be the first one to support the Abolishment of magazine restrictions altogether! But that isn't likely to occur anytime soon.
