Pics from FOC's Canada Day Event

Just got back from another awesome event at FOC, the Canada Day Mega Sale, Quick Draw Challenge, and Barbeque!

I will start with guns and then move on to other activities…GREAT selection today of my favourite types of guns, namely military “inspired” and LEO over-runs.

First up, the FN collector series M16

Complete with a “properly marked” selector switch, though sadly without the accompanying function

The_shmoo preferred the Bushmaster A2 although I preferred the feel of the FN

They also had an M4 from the collector series, but I did not handle that one.

I did however handle the Colt Commando, my favourite gun of the day!

It is compact, yet I love the beefy feel of the handguard

You can see how much beefier it is than this FBI spec Colt AR15 with Troy furniture

Another LEO over-run, the Dan Wesson Specialist Los Angeles Sheriff Department Duty Service Pistol was spectacular!

The checkering was super aggressive (which I like) and so were the VZ grips.

The straight 8 style (though not actually Heinie) sights are very fast

And I like the anti glare slide cuts

Considering the Springfield Armory FBI gun is over $5,500, I think this is a great bargain at $2,000. You get a lot of great features and the added cool factor of the LASD-DSP markings.

I saw the Sig P210 Legend at TACCOM, this time the Target…felt just as great in the hand.

I was also surprised to see the Hudson H9 striker fired 1911…I tried one of these at SHOT show and did not know they were already available in Canada.

I noticed that FOC carries the Double Alpha Shot Maxx watch at TACCOM, this time I got to try one on.

LOL everything looks small next to the Surefire 2011

Ok all done browsing, we went to check out the Quick Draw challenge on Chimera simulators.

Participants got to choose their holster, including this fine kit from Grey Fox

While the guns were powered up with compressed air…the slides do action and simulate about 60% felt recoil compared to a live gun

    Shooters of all ages

    Including this young lady

Finally The_Shmoo gets his turn…first some practice rounds

    And then the challenge

Next we tried the virtual reality simulator. Here an instructor briefs a shooter before letting him try the system

The_Shmoo also gave it a whirl

This computer screen shows what the shooter is seeing…very cool that his gun shows up on screen when he mounts it

The system works with sensors around the shooter

And the gun itself is a Daniel Defense M4 with internals swapped out…you have to drop the mag and reload (and hit the bolt release) for real to reload in “the matrix” lol

They also had a pistol simulator (but it was too dark to take pics).

All done shooting we hit the free bbq for an appetizer burger on our way to wings lol

    We skipped the archery

I wont post pics of the wings again, but here is a revenge pic of The_Shmoo for the horrible pic he took of me last time.

Finally we headed down to Rotary Park to meet some friends for Canada Day…I got an airbrush tattoo

And what is more bada$$ than a black widow airbrush tattoo? Why two of them of course!

We also finally found someone taller than The_Shmoo

And I found some ammo big enough for me.

Thanks again to FOC and Happy Canada Day!

Good question. She has been shooting since about age 7. She started IPSC shooting (airsoft) at age 9, and is now 10. It's been an interesting go to say the least, and FOC and others have helped her greatly along the way. If interested and with the help of FOC and Chimera firearms training have made a youths league with her help. Savanah has an IG account that her coach and my wife run with all the details I think. I just get told locations to drive to lol.

I'm filing a complaint with the IOC, that mountie was clearly using height enhancement devices.
Are you familiar with The Shmoo, Mr. Fisher?
