Mildly interested in the outer... I'm not CF so no experience with these. How tough is the outer material? Is there a bivvy or cover something like along the lines of the USGI MSS that goes with this?

It's perfect if you'd be in a tent or on a sleeping pad. If you're under the stars on stones and such then a bivy bag would be a good idea. It's a heavier material than some of the high end civy bags I've had.

There is a Canadian Bivy Bag made of Gore-tex that is available for it.
lots of members complain that it is difficult to use.
There is no Zipper along the side like the MSS Bivy so you would have to get into the Sleeping bag first then Inch worm in through the open top of the Canadian Bivy Bag.

Video should be Cued up to the Bivy part of the Demonstration if not its about 11:20 in.

Its been a while But we have a some back in hand.

Talked to a gent a while back suggested Using the US GI Patrol Bag
    http://armyissue.com/catalog/product...oducts_id/2548

with the CF down Outer Bag
The combo should get you down
to where the cold of winter is still fun but not desperate.

and would save you on the weight and offer better versatility for temperature range as a complete system.
Nope we haven't field tested it yet.
