Hmmmmmm anyone know if Doug Fords got a heavy set cousin who can run for mayor!? Lol jk
It's both disingenuous and completely presumptive to preach that a Liberal win is "imminent". The PM's approval has been steadily declining since February, with his lowest approval rating hitting 44% according to the Angus Reid Institute. He gained a small and very short-lived blip in support after the Trump fiasco which has reportedly been toppled by the controversies surrounding asylum seekers and the heckler incident. These two issues alone according to Aungus Reid, allegedly puts the PM in complete disagreement with 67% of Canadians. Pretty clear that politically and intellectually speaking, the PM is his own worst enemy. The past year’s political and social discourse has shown that even the most devout leftists are finding it difficult to stand under the once beloved red umbrella with Trudeau at the helm. Sheer has much to capitalize on in the coming year and there’s little doubt that the PM will continue to drag the Liberal brand and platform through the mud. All the way to Election Day on October 21st 2019. Until that day, our community has but one option, band together and turn this nation blue.
I wouldn't be surprised if Bernier runs for the Liberals in the next election. Running his own party will be a flop. Hes not a Social Conservative. He's not really a Liberal. He's definitely not a socialist, and he certainly isn't a Libertarian.
Lacking a coherent political philosophy, being from Quebec and having having loose ties to organized crime (joke) would make him perfect for the Liberals. Its only a matter of time before supply management gets offered up on the altar of free trade anyways.
Government is a broker in pillage, and every election is sort of an advance auction sale of stolen goods. HL Mencken. 1919.
Other than making a political statement, I don't really see how Bernier starting a new party will have any negative effect on CPC voter turnout. I think we could safely assume that the minimal attention he will attract (if any) will be from Quebecers. Needless to say, Bernier's political ambitions are a distant and frankly negligible issue. It just seems like every tantrum he's thrown up until now has been a result of his inability to deal with losing the CPC leadership race. Ergo the whole "I didn't win because the party is corrupt" rhetoric. It's important to remember that the blue tide hit Ontario for the first time in fifteen years, ultimately putting the Liberals rein of terror to an end. The loss of Ontario is arguably the biggest defeat the Liberals have faced to date. This is a significant win for Conservatives that will have massive implications for the next federal election.
