I had to grind my dust cover pin 1/8” down for it to fit.

I had to do this as well, a little less than an eighth.

No issues with the A5 system

also, while i have you, any feedback if the BCM MCMR or QRF rails are fitting without modification and/or with the antirotation?

    thanks in advance

The VLTOR A5 kit was developed for a carbine length gas system on M4 carbines to mimic the rifle buffer. On a rifle length gas system it is not needed. Some people like the extra length of the A5 buffer tube offers over a carbine buffer tube.

I have BCM MCMR rails on two of my uppers, I had no issuies fitting them. They fit perfectly.

If using a milspec pin, it is a tiny c-clip, it can be removed and then used fine. If the pord door rod has a enlarged end, it could be ground down, but probably easier to just get a milspec straight (with out c-clip) port door rod. V-7 Weapon systems also makes a straight aluminum port door rod (available at RDSC) if you are trying to save ever tiny little bit of weight.

I'm running a mid-length gas system so maybe still of value.

Nice. I was wondering what an MCMR would look like on the upper, now I have a better idea
