First time I've heard this complaint about the MS. I did my 3 lowers that I have so far and the roll pins tapped in as smooth as butter.

On first thought, did you use a bit of oil when you installed the roll pin?

On second thought, are you sure you aren't talking about the ### receiver?

I lubed both. They started fine but after a couple taps the first one mushroomed. I removed it (which was a pain) and then tried a new pin.

No I would suspect your pins were out of dimension. After seeing what the "other guys" got a ton of flak over we pin gage every hole before the part goes for anodizing and again when it comes back.

The pins were from different vendors and purchased close to a year apart.
Maybe I’ve just got bad luck and happened to get two out of spec pins under extremely weird circumstances.

We would need to know the grade of material so as to be able to order the correct inserts and tooling, but it still won't be a cheap touch.

Are you guys actually considering this

I would be interested in a set + spare upper. Seems like a handful of people were interested.

No, they are totally different platforms despite looking similar.

Without modification, was test fitted by rdsc as they had one on hand.

Please forgive me if this has been answered already but can you use any standard AR upper reciever with the MS lower? Or does the upper and lower have to be from ATRS to build?
