I have seen this once before. A 30-30 got handed around a small community here in Newfoundland for at least 30 years. Until someone finally figured out it was a 32 special. It is a pre-64 Model 94. Anything is possible.
If you already traded in the rifle for a proper one and don't still have posession of the defective one I doubt you'll get anything from anybody.

We are very sorry about this situation!
Just started to look into this and from what the service dept. here has told me, a Service Call was created on Sept 20th to warranty/replace the rifle and compensate you for used ammo.
They are still waiting on the rifle to be sent here or returned to the dealer. We can't do anything for the client though until we get the rifle back to look at.
Serious, don't buy a REM 783... its a piece of crap !!!
