Any interest in a Type 97 that can use LAR Pistol Mags?

    Here is the scoop

Stanley was tired of everyone complaining that essentially no magazines fit into these rifles including the LAR pistol magazines so he developed a rough prototype with a mag well that is more suitable to damn near all magazines including LAR pistol magazines.

There has been much debate in the office as to weather we move ahead with producing this product for sale as we a deal setup with a CNC machine shop to make these modifications absolutely stunning but need to order the firearms in increments of 10 pcs from the machine shop. This is a decent chunk of capital to allocate to a non-core product line.

Some in the office are voting to go ahead with this project. Some are voting to drop it
It's kind of a stalemate right now sooooo.

Why don't you guys decide for us
    Is this a good idea?
    Any Comments?
    Would you buy one?
    if so buy some!
Once we get about 7 or 8 sold TNA will pull the trigger to get a run made

If you like it buy one now and we'll get these bad boys to you in time for Christmas (hopefully sooner)

It would be cool to buy one out of the box like this. I already own one but I had to spend an hour with some various grits of sandpaper to make the magwell fit any mag.

So this is to have the corners knocked off the spine of the mag well instead of having to do a questionable job filing them or dealing with mags being a problem?

Wish I could afford one, definitely need a gen 2 one day.

    ya basically,
it's taking the standard mag well geometries that we all know and love then cutting them into the type 97 receiver so that the firearms does what it's supposed to do
the problem stems from the way Noricno machined in the mag well instead of broaching it

interesting project but it seems every t97 is different because of the QC issue. I have had 4 different t97s and only one took lar mag. 2 took pmag, and one only takes the factory mag and none other. This gun has no consistency what so ever. I shot the 5.8mm t95 and it had an AK type latch and it functioned with plastic mags I have never seen before.

I'd drop it. Spending more money to make a brand new rifle work the way it should have seems silly. No spare parts for these rifles also, typical Norinco BS. If I sound bitter, I am. Got burned on a gen 1 when they first came out.

Must have been lucky with mine. I use D&H mags no issue.

I enjoy the gen 1 as a fun plinker. But... I would never invest a lot into one. They are a fun inexpensive plinker. With all the changes to them, the price is going up to the point where it's better to just find a used Tavor Tar21.

How about people sending their gen 2 in to get this done? I'd be interested in that.
