Hello CGNer’s,

We have had a lot of inquiries regarding the bolt recoil assemblies of the IWI X95 in recent weeks. There is a popular misconception right now that rifles chambered in 5.56mm are being shipped recoil assembly for the .300 Black out.

It is somewhat true. They have been standardized by IWI. So both 5.56mm and .300 BLK, are now shipped with the same bolt carrier. The only difference between the two is the size of the gas piston. The previous literature shows a difference between the assemblies, so we understand the confusion.
Please see the attached diagram for reference.

That being said, some users have contacted IWI US regarding this issue. Please note that these rifles do not come from the US or have anything to do with IWI US. They come from IWI Israel, and our rifles are configured slightly differently, so if you do have any questions about your X95, or TAR-21 rifles, please reach out to North Sylva directly.

Some users have also experience not being able to disassemble the recoil mechanism from cleaning. While it does take apart in the same way the tolerance on the buffer are slightly tighter than previously, and it takes a slight amount from force to push the recoil rod all the way to the rear.
Please follow the attached link to a YouTube video we made that easily breaks it down. We recommend using a small punch down the rod channel to tap the recoil rod all the way rear ward. This is especially important in new rifles.

Please ensure to keep your recoil assemblies properly lubricated at all times for proper function.
