Barrel Length Advantage On A Tremor?

    Hey all.

Looking at a Tremor in the middle future. And I am wondering about the length of barrel for long range shooting.

Between the 29" and the 32".

From what I know the longer barrel will give faster velocity for longer range shooting. Will it make much of a difference?

Different Calibers have different optimal barrel lengths. As for the .50 BMG optimal barrel length is 29 to 32. You *may* get a touch more velocity out of the 32" ( prob around 50fps faster) but you wont see much difference in performance . The key is proper load development and skill to be successful in Long range shooting . I wouldn't choose a 50 as it is way too expensive to shoot and just a lot more nicer calibers out there to work with.

you may want to look into rifling twist rate and bullet shape/weight appropriate for long range shooting as well

What caliber? because in short.... Yes?

Nothing sucks more than the trans-sonic barrier stopping you from hitting that last target.... Ask me how I know.

Right, sorry was thinking of the Kracken,

If you have the bullets to do it, and the range to shoot it, I would go longer barrel.

But if your ballistics calculations don't require the length, my person experience is that shorter is handier, and fits in cases for transport.
But yeah... I am in the market for a new barrel (longer) due to the unreliable performance once I hit trans-sonic.

I did some research on this before making my 50BMG order - found this article helpful

Thanx Sharpee. What did you get in the end? Cadex or other....?

So far I have access to 2700 yards. With a 50 on the horizon I will be looking for further.

I live in city and don't even have the privilege to shoot past 600 yard. Yet I still want a 50 bmg and Tremor is what I'm aiming at. Quite a few site sponsors restock 29'' Tremor, and deals can be had if you know what you are doing. My rational side kicked in, now I'm putting money towards a STI DVC OPEN. That said, I personally would just grab a 29'' and call it a day. Hang it on the wall or go out shooting.
