If i showed you my pic that the RCMP have scanned , you would think my beard was pitch black and 8inches long. When i received it i had to take a good look at it the scan has definitely changed my pic. Oh well as long as i have it, im good to go

Just claim you are a veiled man due to religious reasons and you can be exempt for the photo, it might be a huge government oversight security flaw in the system but we all know the Liberals are keeping us safe...lol

Otherwise There are plenty of small photo places that will take a cheap passport photo for around 5-10$

They get a lot of fuzzy / odd pictures they resize and process unless you visibly have changed your look

I wonder how many applicants actually use that loophole to avoid having their picture on the card.

I went to Walmart to get mine done. The photo studio has the specifications as a preset so you just go in and get it done. I ended up getting 2 copies for $20 and they matched the size perfectly. Just tell them you need photos for a PAL license and they will hook you up hassle free.

Any facility that takes photos can also take your Pal photo as long as you give them the specs but however.... May I suggest Henrys.. they were the ones to do my photos and had no issue.

London Drugs is also a decent candidate, as they are aware of the differences in sizing between passport and PAL photos.

The photograph specifications are found here, on 'Information Sheet 4 of 4': <http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cfp-pcaf/form-formulaire/pdfs/5592-eng.pdf>

You are not required to submit a passport type photograph or a photograph that has been taken by a professional photographer. However your photograph must meet the following criteria: Show a full front view of your head and shoulders. Use a plain, contrasting background without shadows. Do not wear a hat or sunglasses. Your eyes should be clearly visible and should not appear to be red. The photo should have been taken within the last twelve (12) months. Size: the photo should be no larger than 45 mm x 57 mm (1 3/4 in. x 2 1/4 in.). Your head in the photograph must be at least 30 mm (1 3/16 in.) high. The photo must be original, not taken from an existing photo. Digitally produced photos are acceptable provided all other requirements are met. Cut the photograph to fit the size requirements before sending it to us.

    • Print your name and your guarantor's name on the label.
    • Have your guarantor sign it and complete the Photo Guarantor section of your application.
    • Cut and affix the label to the back of your photograph.
    • Enclose the photograph with your application.

For folks who are CAA members, your membership includes one free photo per year and that's how I got mine. I believe this is for all CAA regions (I am in South Central Ontario). They have the correct size for PAL application so when they do the print out, just let them know what you need the picture for.
