I suppose if you throw enough money around anything is possible. If you want to machine the rim down 22 thousandths and then find a magnum bolt (which is impossible) for an ar 15 or turn the rim down to 308 case head sizes which is still hard to find a bolt for or go to the grendel sized case head and use the jp bolt go for it but without modifications to every case you use it will not be accomplished. That article also stated that the 500 auto max was built on the AR10. Not the AR15 sized platform which the modern sporter is.
The AR-500 is an AR platform weapon designed to accommodate a modified version of the .500 Smith & Wesson bullet. The Auto Max is actually built off the AR-10, a scaled up version of the AR-15 meant to accommodate the heavier 7.62-millimeter caliber. The AR-10 is used to accommodate a number of larger calibers including 6.5-millimeter Creedmoor, 7-millimeter-08 Remington, and .338 Federal.
Like I said anything is possible with enough money and time but is it worth the head ache of it over the 50 Beowulf which already hits like those hammer.
Just measured a milspec bolt. You would not have any bolt face left as it is only .534 across between the lugs and a magnum case head like the rum or win mag is .536 therefore impossible to have a magnum bolt in an ar15 platform.

A hybrid like the POF Revolution, but NR would be the ideal solution for big calibers while keeping a smaller frame and lower weight
If it's either loud, obnoxious, fast, hated by the general population or any combination of these, I OWN IT!!
I have a dream about making a 450BM. I dont know if I would call it demand, seeing as funding is so far away as to be nonexistant

I'm thinking about a .458 SOCOM upper. 18.6" would be perfect!
Let Freedom Ring With a Shotgun Blast!
the article title is wrong. the "500 auto max" is built on an AR10.
"500 auto max" is basically just 500 S&W cut with a rebated rim to work with the .473" ar10 bolt face
the .445" 6.5 grendel bolts that you use for 50 Beo are about as large as you can fit in an ar15. there is no way in hell you could fit a cartridge with a .473" bolt face in an ar15.

I am glad you seemed to have adopted the idea of the enlarged ejection port, I guess took extra deliberation time after I and others asked for the change last fall.
I wish you had mentioned the idea of making big-bore barrels earlier. I grabbed a Bushmaster 450 upper with 20" barrel during the Holidays; I plan to strip down and move the guts over.
I know, you likely didn't have these ideas clear back when. I am afraid I have my parts spoken for, just await my 3 uppers to complete : 450 Bush, 300 AAC and 22LR
