So, what does it take to become the US Army’s next service pistol?

First, you have to be modular. Three different, swappable frame sizes aren’t a bad start. Combine that with standard night sights, a removable plate for optics, and a 1913 accessory rail, and you’ll be doing pretty well for yourself.
Second, you’ll need pedigree, and you won’t find much better than Sig Sauer’s decades’ of experience.
Lastly, you should shoot well, feel good in the hand, and just look cool!
If you’ve got all of that, then odds are you look an awful lot like the Sig P320 M17.
