Gwen Boniface former OPP commissionaire who introduced Ontario to two tier policing based on race during the Caledonia uprising 2005-ongoing. Trudeau's kind of person so she got the taskless thanks of a Senate job.

“I haven’t received one letter that is in support of the bill,” Jaffer said in a phone interview from her base in Vancouver.

This in its self is an interesting statement.

NFA and CCFR are poles apart in underlying philosophies. Supporting both essentially nulls your message.

The NFA is working with Members of Parliament, Senators, and Staffers, to remove non violent, non victim, administrative Firearms act offenses from the Criminal code of Canada.
The NFA has a full time lobbyist in Ottawa in contact with and advising politicians and staffers who contact him. - Under the lobbying rules many of these contacts do NOT have to be reported as lobbying as it is the politicians and staffers who call on the NFA Lobbyist for advice on other matters and discussions on the gun laws are incidental to the contact.

The NFA goals include removing criminal penalties for firearms act infractions concerning incorrect and expired documents.
The Firearms License is key to the prohibition of legal possession of firearms. The Firearms license allows possession of some firearms without criminal charges (Criminal code of Canada section 91, possession of a firearm is an offense) but not firearms proscribed by regulation (ministerial order) made by Order in council under Criminal Code Section 117.15.

This is the OIC (Order in Council) that the New Zealand government used to change the class of firearms allowed by their gun license to a class that is prohibited and not allowed.

Canadian law (Criminal code section 117.15 ) allows the same OIC to be enacted in Canada.

During the Senate hearings on Bill C71, Mr Giltaca of the CCFR clearly stated that the CCFR supports the firearms owner licensing system and this is tacit support of the Criminal code penalties for the non victim, non violent administrative Firearms Act administrative offenses.
In 2014 Mr. Giltaca was an NFA member who was a candidate for NFA director running against incumbent Sheldon Clare. Mr Giltaca also addressed the NFA members at the AGM in Vancouver prior to that election.
Mr Giltaca did not win that election.

In 2016, Mr Giltaca and others formed their own firearms group that supports status quo gun laws - like the gun license.

This is all public record and can be verified
If you don't have 12(3), 12(4),12(5), or 12(6) on your gun license, or if your PAL expires, the licensing system says your hands are "the wrong hands".
Gun owner licensing, keeping guns out of the hands of the law abiding.

Hardly. The Venn diagram of their two philosophies is an 80% eclipse. Most of the principles from CCFR are former NFA folks, that split because they couldn't' agree on the 20%. I would summarize the difference as they both have the same preferred end state, but the CCFR is willing to compromise on some of their principles in order to move the needle closer to the promised land, while the NFA is not.

Support both doesn't null the message any more than choosing to have just the good cop or just the bad cop in the interrogation. When my job as an individual gun owner is to convince government to leave me the hell alone, I want the good cop and the bad cop, the stick and the carrot, and whatever else it may take, to get the job done.

Except that the classification that a very small number of firearms were just moved to isn't actually prohibited, and IS allowed, if the affected owners simply upgraded their license. Registered CLass E firearms can still be used for hunting, pest control, target shooting and competition, basically the same as any other firearm, except with registration and higher storage requirements.

The reclassification is step 1. NZ .gov has yet to take step 2 and table the actual legislation that will result in a prohibition of anything. Time will tell if they actually deliver that legislation or not.
