    So they shaved off a half ounce or what?
    I don't get it.
    Is it a weight saving thing or just an aesthetics/gimmick thing?

    That's exactly what these are for.. no way this is battlefield friendly... unless one makes a skeletonized AK action

    Less chances of an AR having a stoppage with a skeletonized magwell than an AK with a skeletonized reciever.
