Hi everybody
So I've been lurking around on these forums for about a month now. Finally decided it's worth sticking around as there is usually some good info posted before threads degenerate into a screaming match
I recently moved to Canada from South Africa as I'm not too optimistic about SA's future. I've been interested in guns from a young age (got that from my grandfather). Moved around the world a bit as a child, but when I finally "settled" in SA again I got into sport shooting. I started of bulls-eye shooting, but I was also part of an organisation that did all sorts of shooting events based on hunting exercises that was really fun to do and got me interested in rifles and shotguns.
I had the privilege of hunting both in SA and Namibia (no dangerous game though as I only shoot what I can eat + varmints). I also managed to work in a handgun hunt before moving here knowing that it's not possible here. (It's such a pity that we can't hunt with restricteds - there's just something about hunting with a good old long-barreled 44 magnum.)
I've got my RPAL and already bought some goodies this side (I sold all my guns in SA). I'm now in the process of visiting clubs to decide on which one(s) to join.
On a non-shooting-related topic, I've been trying to watch some Canadian sports - I used to watch F1 but got tired of Merc winning. (Ironically I like the German drivers but not the German team. Or maybe it's just their British driver.) Just one question, how to you guys follow the puck in hockey? To my (admittedly untrained) eyes everything is just a blur. And no, I don't need glasses Maybe I should stick to curling - that's more my speed
If anybody is in the Oakville/Toronto area and feel the need for some beer or coffee let me know - first one's on me.
Michael
