Commercial Mauser 98: I'd guess 7x57, 30-06, 8mm but hoping 6.5x55 or 250-3000(though it's not a short action). Not to sound rude or anything, but I wouldn't be pounding nail shanks into what was a 3-4g rifle... neat sure, and there is a memory with each of those shanks worth remembering.
Given that I have been thinking of a safari, that will increase my already broad requirements: From targets and small vermin up to moose already requires at least two rifles, but if the safari includes dangerous game, then one more rifle will be necessary. But just one rifle I'm torn between a CZ in 6.5x55 or a combination 12ga over 7x65r. If I never left Ontario, I'd be mulling over a Remington 7 in 250-3000.
