The Patriot Valley Arms Universal Small Base die solves the age old dilemma faced by reloaders running the same brass across 2 chambers. Be it 2 different rifles or an old batch of brass that needs to go into a newly rebarreled rifle the base of the case can cause some major headaches at the reloading bench.
The USB Die uses interchangeable bushings to size down just the web and slightly forward of the case web via a push-thru method. The die is mounted as seen in the video clip below, from the underside. This allows users to drive the case through the brass and it pops out on the other side swaged to "new brass" dimensions without touching any of the neck or shoulder and very little of the body.
The USB Die comes with 1 bushing and case punch. Case punches are best suited in a close match to the case head to avoid damaging the brass with high driving forces.
Use Steps are extremely simple:
We do not recommend using live ammunition or brass with live primers in it during sizing.
Bushing 1: 223, 300 BLK, 222 Rem, 204 Ruger, etc cases that use the 0.380 case head
Bushing 2: 308, 260, 6.5 Creedmoor family, 6BR, 6Dasher family etc cases that use the 0.473 case head
Bushing 3: Win Short Mag, SAUM, Rem Ultra Mag series wtih the 0.555 case body
Bushing 4: Grendel/PPC 0.442 case head
Bushing 5: 6.5 SPC, Valkyrie, 0.421 case head
Bushing 6: 505 case body (284 Win family)
Bushing 7: 530 beltless magnum body (Ruger Compact Mag, PRC, etc)
Punch sizes are compatible across the following bushings:
Bushing 1 - 365 Punch
Bushing 5 - 410 Punch
Bushing 2, 4 & 6 - 435 Punch
Bushing 3 & 7 - 485 Punch
Sizing 308 and 6mm Dasher Brass

Use Steps are extremely simple:
- Install the die and case punch as shown.
- Lubricate the outside of the brass liberally (now is not the time to skimp on lube)
- Insert the case up into the die with your fingers until it stops.
- Smoothly drive the case up through the die with the press ram.
- Remove sized brass and repeat steps 2-5 for additional cases.
