I've never cleaned a magazine in 20 years of (light) shooting. What has gotten in there that you need to clean it?
Not picking on you....I wonder if I should be donig this for some reason.
I heard that you should like every year or so I think it’s mainly directed at ar15 with DI gas systems cuz you get some gas back to the chamber and into your mag which eventually builds up some carbon. And obviously outside use if your actually getting dirt and stuff in them.I've never cleaned a magazine in 20 years of (light) shooting. What has gotten in there that you need to clean it?

Mine don't have the base plate pinned on. Just pry the back of the base plate away from the mag body to release it by sticking a tool in the hole and prying forward. Once you removed the base plate, to relieve the spring pressure pull the spring down but not entirely out the bottom and let the follower drop to the crimps. Then rag out the top half of the mag. The rest probably won't need any attention.

Dump pouch, they never see the ground.
Adding unnecessary movements to a reload to place a mag in a dump pouch. No thanks!
