What kind of competition? Shadow 2 is no good for IDPA (won't fit in the box), but is great for IPSC. Maybe save a few bucks and get a Shadow 1??

I was thinking IPSC, and Abby seems to be the place for it

try the shadow 1 well your at it. pistols are very personal feel. I prefer the 1 over the 2.

MDRGC is exactly 18 minutes from my doorstep. Problem is, I'm not sure which discipline I want to be in. I think I need to watch a few matches to see. I have no aspirations of doing national tours. Just want to meet some cool people and have fun.
