What's the point of hardwood if it's painted?
Why not synthetic?
Looks like they had a ton of blemished/####ty wood and decided to paint it and sell it at a premium.
Y'all are crazy with the calibre requests.
Except 7.62x25. That was inspired.

Any idea what the twist rate is on the 1895? I wonder how they get around losing 2.25" of barrel length and still maintaining the accuracy
It's possible that they had wood that was fine physically, but not pretty. It's also possible that getting molds made for synthetic and setting up a new QA process for injection molding was more investment than they think is necessary. Much cheaper to just use their usual wood production lines and craftsmen and paint with a durable coating. For limited "gimmick" type run, it makes more sense. Maybe if they sell a few thousand of these they'll come out with some plastic components. Or maybe they're waiting for Magpul to approach them and say they've designed a new lever action furniture line, would Marlin be interested?
I wonder what wood is being used under that paint?

When I installed my QD flush cup it looked like both my ADL & GSBL were laminate wood underneath the paint. The wood is quite heavy and very hard. Dark Knight Edition ADL has same looking black stock as the Dark series 1895. My GSBL is the Green with black webbing.

Can anybody speak to the quality of these? It looks like Marlin has upped their game this time around and I'm tempted, but I got burned badly with my GSBL.
