Cleaning Supplies for WWII Rifles
Hello everyone,
I am new to firearms and I have recently acquired a Lee Enfield No.4 (in .303 British) and an RC Mauser K98k (in 8mm Mauser). Neither have been fired since their refurbishment in the 1950s. There is no cosmoline on the rifles but the bores are not shiny. What kind of cleaning supplies should I get? Can I use modern rifle cleaning kits that are designed for .30 cal rifles (cleaning rods, bore brushes, etc.) or should I get their respective WWII style cleaning kits?
Thank you!

Modern kit would be the way to go for actual cleaning. Something along the lines of G96 bore solvent and spray/liquid CLP work well for cleaning fouled bores. If it's really stubborn Wipeout may be required.
Purchasing period kit is a nice way to complement the rifles as well, although you'll pay quite a bit for a wartime K98 kit (the post war ones are identical - minus certain markings).

New/Unissued Swiss Rifle cleaning kit. Comes with 2 full bottles of "Automatenfett". Also good for any 30 cal. rifle

Thanks for the info. I'll get a budget kit for now and keep my eyes out for good deals on period kits.
