The Type 81 is a gas operated, magazine fed, semi-automatic rifle. It uses a short-stroke gas piston, located above the barrel, and a two-position gas regulator. The bolt group (of the rotating bolt type) is borrowed from the Type 63 rifle. Type 81 rifles also retains the Type 63 bolt hold-open device, which catches the bolt in the open position after the last round has been fired from magazine. The fire selector – safety switch is located at the left side of the receiver, just above the pistol grip, and can be easily operated with the right hand thumb. The open sights are marked from 100 to 500 meters, with the front sight being mounted just ahead of the gas block.

Developed by the Chinese military as a replacement for their Type 56 rifles (license produced AK-47). Was designed to have a longer service life, higher accuracy, improved durability and better controllability in full automatic firing. The Type 81 is used by multiple military and police forces across the globe.

In practice the Type 81 is well balanced and points easily. The rifle is incredibly flat shooting, comparable to a 5.56x45 in felt recoil and muzzle rise. Reliability is astounding, with 1000's of rifles sold not a single rifle has come back for failures. Lightweight and ergonomic, an asset to any shooter's collection.

Comes with two 5/30 magazines. All parts and components are brand new production, not surplus. Non-restricted class. In-stock now.

Are these still 'bent'?

No rifles were ever "bent", in very rare cases the barrel/trunion wasn't perfectly aligned with the receiver only effecting aesthetics and not function. However out of thousands of rifles we only had 2 or 3 actual legitimate cases of out of specification rifles with measurable deviation, which were replaced under warranty free of charge. All others were optical illusion from the handguard alignment/online hysteria. Using a straight edge with stand-off blocks from the receiver and taking off the handguard will give you an absolute measurement. Relying on the eye is not a accurate method

do AK mags still need to be modified to fit in the type 81?
I’m going to say yes as the built in bho has a recess in mag to fit the 81 I wanna say every ak mag there is no recess so it has to be shaved out to fit an 81.
If you are thinking bout getting some converted I ended up getting some SKS D 5 round mags $20 each or $35 for a pack of 2 nice too since it’s apparently stainless steel no poly or just blued steel
I had a smith convert mine and he told be they were stainless since he tried to blue it and all once he shaved and fitted them to the 81 nice surprise tho to get some metal 5rd mags for the 81 bho don’t work with them but oh well.
