You think we have lost freedoms? You haven't seen anything yet.

Once they get the guns and the anti guns rhetoric won't stop until they have them all, they will be banning Bibles, they will be banning the right to go to a Christian church, they will double taxes and double them again till you cannot afford to put food on your table.

Then the roundups to send all dissenters to camps never to be seen again.

The leftist political elites will never stop.

    It's a communist globalist agenda.

It's about time to saddle up boys and girls.

This is where the rubber hits the road.

Unpopular opinion: Instead of challenging these comments on the basis that these firearms are used by police, it would be more effective to highlight the proper sporting uses of these firearms... Highlighting the use by police makes it easier for opponents to retort "These weapons should only be in the hands of police." There is no constitutional right to self defense with a firearm in Canada. This argument sounds like the argument made by 2A supporters in the US on why they need an AR-15. "It is the best means to protect my family" will not work here.

    Mrs. Cheryl Gallant

    Ma’am,

I am quite concerned to have learned that Bill Blair has been quoted as saying that some models of firearms, legally in the hands Canadian firearms owners, are “designed to hunt people”. This statement is disturbing as those very firearms that Mr. Blair is vilifying are used in great numbers by our: Royal Canadian Mounted Police, many Provincial Police forces, dozens of municipal police services; and even our Ministry of Natural Resource enforcement officers.

This becomes somewhat of a paradox. If these firearms are suitable and required for the protection of our officers, how can they be “designed to hunt people”? If these firearms are in fact designed and can only be used “to hunt people” should we not be taking them out of service with our police forces as Canadian police are not in the business of “hunting” our population. It would not be in the best interests of Canadians to have our Police forces viewed as militant groups whose purpose is to “hunt people”. Our police are supposed to be the people we can trust. Those we seek in times of need for safety and protection of our lawful rights. How can we see our police as protectors when they have firearms that are “designed to hunt people” and when those very firearms are to be denied to law abiding and trust worthy citizens?

It is a very important point to remember that our Police services are populated by citizens, ordinary people, of this country. Putting someone into a uniform does not make their tools any more or less evil. It is the actions of a person and not the inanimate object that define “assault”. How can a rifle in the hands of our police be a “patrol carbine” but the same rifle in the hands of a law abiding citizen be an “assault rifle”.

I am asking that you please ensure the voice of legal Canadian firearms owners is heard and that we will not tolerate being labelled as anything other than Canada’s most law abiding and safest sporting group.

I look forward to hearing how the Conservative Party intends to hold the Liberals accountable for the statements they make and the attacks they are perpetrating on Canada’s law abiding firearms owners.

Thank you for your time and your service to the people of Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke.

    J
Doesn't matter, anymore. We're only good for filling sandbags for floods and saving people during winter storms. Other-wise we're kicking posts and crazies who are over worked, over taxed, underpaid and never truly appreciated.

You're missing the point, completely. If these firearms are suitable for police to be in possession of, you know that police officers are just people, they're suitable for everyone.
