Just trying to think what that would look like. I suppose cut back the gas tube stub more, so the whole of it fits inside the gas block/sight, then tap the hole at the rear of the gas block? Currently the gas tube stub sticks out about half an inch, just so I could easily twist it into position. I think the tube stub needs to stay in place as without it the gas would blow out the sides.

I'm thinking this leak is gas blowing along the underside of the tube stub.

I don't think I have a specific safety detent set screw but I'm sure I could find some suitable set screw lying about.

Maybe tap and screw in with loctite.

Actually, wtf am I thinking ? The gas hole in the A2 sight is behind the part of the tube that is pinned. I wouldn’t need the tube stub at all ! Duh

This is a bit more of a permanent solution but you could pound some lead in the gas tube hole. We use to plug holes in carburetors like that all the time. Go to a tire store and see if they got any old wheel weights kicking around. Then you just cut off a piece about the size of the hole and hammer it in.

I took the hand guard off to see what was happening and sure enough there is a tiny fireball popping straight out of the gas tube! Maybe I got it right side up instead of upside down. What a dumbass

Now I’m thinking I need one with a 12” barrel in something bigger. Like 50 Beowulf or one of those other 45 caliber ones. Never paid much attention to those cartridges but how fun would it be to go bear hunting with that?
.450-Bushmaster seems to be the caliber that's winning that market.
