Parents are lefty for sure but I don't know about Antifa.... at this point Greta is driving the bus and the parents are along for the ride!
No doubt there is hard left ideological money fueling the bus.
Our Government trusts rivets more then law abiding gun owners.

Trudeau was NOT supposed to win a 2nd term so make no mistake! The little ________ is gonna have renewed zeal and enthusiasm to come after us real hard. Also, to those who would dare say JT lost seats? We still have to remember 3 of the 4 major parties hate us with a passion and a half so if anything? This is the worst time to ever become complacent.
    Keep fighting the good fight!

Agreed; those millions of marching kids...are putting us, and our "pet cause" to shame.

I'm generally disappointed by the apparent lack of response to the Liberals attack on our lawfully owned sporting firearms. At least, you, in the "West" seem united on the issue. I'm out here in the FAR west, on an island off the west coast, where a relatively small number of no less enthusiastic gun owners are banding together to get our voices heard. The majority of my other friends and acquaintances are "politely sympathetic" to our cause, but I'm doubtful that I changed any minds as far as voting. As often as I can, I'll invite them out for a 'range day' and introduce them to our sport. They always end the day grinning from ear-to-ear. We usually stop off at our 'local' for a bit of "après schutt". We can talk politics without coming to blows, but "at the end of the day"(!)" the general conclusion is that they are more interested in "breathing clean air" and "drinking clean water" than in spending much time fighting for the 'rights'(?) of gun owners, no matter how honest and law-abiding we are. It's just not a priority for them. Most of "the wives" (no sexism implied) will explain how gun hobbies are no longer "politically correct" in these times. Most of them have kids and grand-kids, and they're far more worried about the future world those kids are about to inherit from us as we begin to "age out".

Meanwhile, I'm doing what I can: Member of CSSA,NFA, and three gun clubs; Weeks prior to the election, I wrote letters to our four leading federal parties, asking them about their stands on firearms.
To my surprise and disappointment, the ONLY PARTY to reply were the GREENS, who assured me their party had no plans to make any changes to the existing Canadian Firearms Act. I can only speculate as to why the rest failed to reply. Maybe they were too busy planning the victory parade, maybe they figure the WEST COAST was just too small potatoes to bother with; maybe my cyber-pigeon got shot down by some 'election meddlers'?

If we were to organize one of these 'consciousness-raising street marches', I'd wager we wouldn't get more than a few dozen CGNers out onto the streets of Vancouver or Victoria; it's just not a popular enough cause out here.

Yesterday I was up at Cabelas, and was shocked at how depleted their stock looked. I've been sniffing around for one of the new Marlin 'levers' in 45-70: NADA.
Nor did I notice any 'AR's on display, not that I'd be interested in one now! I was wondering whether Cabelas was in process of "cleaning up" in anticipation of a visit from some sort of Federal Delegation....

For gun owners in western province, it is time to immediately make sure both your Federal MPs and Provincial MPPs understand the Liberals' gun ban platform is a large part of the Western Alienation issue along with carbon tax and the pipeline. We need to get the western MPs and MPPs to include the gun ban issue in part of this "new deal" and any negotiation that may follow.

If you are not in the western provinces, please emphasize to your MP the need to include the western provinces and the importance of unity. This is the best way we have on table to repel the Liberals gun ban platform.
AGREED, I will be phoning my MPs in rural prince albert and saskatoon.
firearms are big part of western culture

im not sure mr PM is going to bring up gun control, as he knows it will be the icing on the cake, and the west will walk away from confederation.

unless of course thats his plan.

This is JT we're talking about. His I.Q. is actually below zero. He will try something.

From my perspective as an albertan firearms owner, the best way to prevent a ban has little to do with letter writing and is more realistically focused on western regional secession from the remainder of central and eastern canada (and presumably the southern coast of bc). Western separation is the clearest way that i can see to avoiding a ban not just for the next 4 years, but for the rest of my life and those of my children's children! Of course, the senitiments fuelling western alienation within canada have much more to do with economics, resource development, employment and associated standards of living than anything to do with firearms. What i am simply saying is that solving the larger problem will also solve the lesser problem of firearms bans. Such bans would not be entertained in the new, conservative-values western nation formerly known as western canada. Face it - the ideological gulf between the west and central and eastern canada is simply too wide to address with empty platitudes. Westerners are independent-minded entrepreneurs who value hard work and desire responsible exploitation of their natural resources while they still have market value. Central and eastern liberals (not all central and eastern canadians, but far too many) desire a socialist, utopian nanny-state that will address their every need through income-levelling and handouts at the expense of future generations. Painting with a broad brush? Yes, but the element of truth cannot be denied. We now have a "nation" of 3 solitudes - the west, quebec, and whatever is left of central and eastern canada. Confederation is a failure as regional imperatives (eg. Economic survival) assume far more importance than any national aspiration. The current electoral map is a perfect "snap shot" of how canadians from different regions view their world. Ideas, methods and desired outcomes are far, far different in alberta than in the maritimes these days. Empty platitudes regarding "national unity" aren't going to cut it this time. Unlike quebec's constant game-playing, the west is not fvcking about. We want out. And we'll take our guns with us, thank-you very much!
    big +1

Can really tell who has lived in the west their whole lives vs the visitors in this thread. To us it isnt the topic of the day, it's our lifestyle being held hostage by people from Ontario, Quebec, and various immigrants from non western countries who vote overwhelmingly against our interests. Call and write all you want, as they import more voters their need for you will be reduced to tax slave for the needs of "new canadians" and the dregs in the east.

Well put.. The west has a bigger disconnect with every election
I'm thinking the interior and northern B.C. join Alberta and let the loonie left coast turn into the cess pool that they all seem to want
