A coordinated, well-funded and well-planned campaign to convince the "Nervous Nellies" that all guns are not bad, and that they do have a legitimate place in responsible hands in a free and democratic society. Show them how firearms are safely and enjoyably kept and used by millions of honest, respectable, taxpaying Canadians every year. That is the only way we will ever make any gains, if it isn't already too late. Anything else will just gain the anti's more believers.
Watch the Toronto Board of Health video. They have nothing but contempt for us. We are nothing more then sub humans because we won't drink the kool aid.

Canadians have (a) the right of the individual to life, liberty, security of the person and enjoyment of property, and the right not to be deprived thereof.

    Never in doubt, seldom correct.

You are right, but those are the diehard anti's. You'll never get them to back private gun ownership. But that's not the group you have to target. It's the fence sitters. They can be convinced, but it has to be done diplomatically. Not the way most guys here do it.
It's important to have a good vocabulary. If I had known the difference between the words 'antidote' and 'anecdote,' one of my good friends would still be alive.

Alex Jones may be very hyperbolic but he isn't out right wrong. They don't bother platforming inaccurate ineffective people. They use those for ridicule.
Yep, people can ridicule him until they’re blue in the face, but like Don Cherry and his bombastic nature, he isn’t wrong!

Again, the biggest problem here is the mainstream media.
You can have best arguments against anti gun clowns all you want but if mainstream media is on their side, they win.
So far they are winning and it seems like no one understands this.
Mainstream media is shaping opinions of those “Nervous Nellies” few people mentioned.

That may have been true at one time. With social media, if we got off our collective asses, the message would get out. It's just easier to do nothing and blame everyone around us from the problems we are having. It's not just us, but if you look at every group or nationality that plays the victim, they are mired in crap. The ones that decide to learn and live move on to become successful. Which one we decide to be is up to us and only us. Unfortunately, I'm am pretty sure most have already made their decision.

Three examples of groups that decided to move on and learn are: gay people, disabled people, and Japanese-Canadians. I'll let you look around to identify three groups that decided to go the other route, not including gun owners.

From my perspective as an Albertan firearms owner, the best way to prevent a ban has little to do with letter writing and is more realistically focused on Western regional secession from the remainder of Central and Eastern Canada (and presumably the Southern Coast of BC). Western separation is the clearest way that I can see to avoiding a ban not just for the next 4 years, but for the rest of my life and those of my children's children! Of course, the senitiments fuelling Western alienation within Canada have much more to do with economics, resource development, employment and associated standards of living than anything to do with firearms. What I am simply saying is that solving the larger problem will also solve the lesser problem of firearms bans. Such bans would not be entertained in the new, conservative-values Western Nation formerly known as Western Canada. Face it - the ideological gulf between the West and Central and Eastern Canada is simply too wide to address with empty platitudes. Westerners are independent-minded entrepreneurs who value hard work and desire responsible exploitation of their natural resources while they still have market value. Central and Eastern Liberals (not all Central and Eastern Canadians, but far too many) desire a socialist, utopian nanny-state that will address their every need through income-levelling and handouts at the expense of future generations. Painting with a broad brush? Yes, but the element of truth cannot be denied. We now have a "nation" of 3 solitudes - the West, Quebec, and whatever is left of Central and Eastern Canada. Confederation is a failure as regional imperatives (eg. economic survival) assume far more importance than any national aspiration. The current electoral map is a perfect "snap shot" of how Canadians from different regions view their world. Ideas, methods and desired outcomes are far, far different in Alberta than in the Maritimes these days. Empty platitudes regarding "National unity" aren't going to cut it this time. Unlike Quebec's constant game-playing, the West is not fvcking about. We want out. And we'll take our guns with us, thank-you very much!
Agreed. And the gun ban is one of the wedges we need the provincial government to drive home. Letting your Alberta MP know your feelings on guns as well as all the other issues is a step towards that end.

Probably a stupid question but can a province choose to use the non-withstanding clause to out out of a gun ban? I suspect not but I do wonder.

AFAIK, the Notwithstanding Clause's purpose is to (temporarily) allow a province to enact legislation that contravenes the Charter or Constitution. It must be re-invoked every 5 years.
