The non-threaded was a special run for us, but majority wanted threaded so we switched to the standard threaded after first run
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, or something like that, lol. Actually according to most people the thread protector kinda hides the Pinocchio nose of the non threaded version and looks better. I'm happy with the looks of mine that we have to tolerate because of the silly laws.
I see they're out of the wooden grips. I have a set on mine and they are really nice.
