I have the SKS version and have thought that I would prefer a smaller diameter opening. I would love to see the rave eye line updated with interchangeable peeps. Just thinking out loud...

I have considered this and may do it.

That being said, a single piece tends to be more durable than a multi-piece product.

The initial reaction of most to the sight is that the opening is too small, oddly enough. I did my best to pick what |I believed to be an optimal size, suitable both for field and target.

91/30 Mosins tend to shoot high and right. Lengthening the the front sight post and keeping the rear sight as low as possible is usually the fix to get to to point of aim. The peep hole would have to be as low as the notch in the stock rear sight leaf.

Any tricks to lengthing the front post?

I can make a couple of different prototypes to test before the production run starts.

A small piece of black shrink tubing will do in a pinch. Trim it to length till you get it to where you want it. There are after market front sights available online that have a set screw and adjustable post.

This. I think most mosin can benefit from a height adjustable front sight block more than the rear sight. You then will also have the option to sell them as a pair. I had an adjustable front sight made by another shop, it made a huge difference and people kept commenting my mosin was very accurate (but it was really only because it's sighted in).
