    By the way, for those who would like to have one more round in the tubular magazine ( 6+1 instead of 5+1). Just cut few coils off the magazine spring (usually 4 1/2 coil).
    and you'll be able to put 6 in there . I was told that the only reason it is limited to 5+1 is
    because of import restrictions. It will function perfectly, if not better , with the shorter spring.

    There is a 6 round conversion kit with a new spring and follower made for the 1897 that does this.

    Take Down Frame or Solid Frame 1897.Original Winchester ‘97s were designed to hold six 2-5/8″ shells in the magazine.

    But with modern 2-3/4″ rounds, 6 rounds usually fit too tightly to feed the first round.

    They are made for the Winchester but do not know if it fits into the Norinco.

    I got mine today. Wood is nice and the bluing is nice.
