HSBC is a Chinese bank and should not be supported. Just get a US Dollar card from any bank and go wild.

I forgive your ignorance, but the H and S in HSBC were British colonies at the time and HSBC is in fact a British bank, look it up. Any goonery perpetrated by HSBC should have equal blame to the brits enabling them.

If you're gonna argue about some super secret chinese invisible hand controlling them, well, $$$ has no borders.

scotiabank amex gold and scotiabank passport. Both have an annual fee but cancel before end of first year and the sign up bonuses are pretty good right now. ratesdotca and greatcanadianrebates has offers to get additional $100-150 too
HSBC has a tendency to make you jump through hoops/go into branch for id verification
