Current Export Update -and IMPORTANT changes to Export Reform

Our current export schedule has always cut off on the 15th of each month. For the month of February we will be cutting off at 5PM MST on February 10th.

Please ensure your orders are in prior to the 10th.

There have been some extensive changes to Export Reform over the last 30 days. The DDTC is changing their complete structure and going to a cloud based system.
This takes effect on February 14th, thus we feel these applications need to be in the system prior to their transition.

We will also be Pre-filing with the Dept of Commerce so we are ready when the new changes take effect in the beginning of March.

Its unfortunate, but it was expected...

Yesterday, 21 State Attorney Generals filed a suit to derail or delay the migration of ITAR controlled items to the Dept of Commerce. This has been an ongoing 10 year transition and from what we have been advised it could be far from over.

The NSSF is in the process of filing a counter suit so at this point it is anyone's guess as to what can or will happen.

We will continue to keep everyone in the loop, please be advise that posts not pertaining to this thread will be deleted.

Flat rate shipping to Canada is 25.00USD on all accessory and ammunition orders regardless of quantities ordered. Firearms are exported to Canada at a flat rate of 25.00USD per firearm.

These changes do not effect the export of defense products to the US. The changes in Export Reform effect everything that comes out of the US. The DDTC or ITAR regulate defense products to 196 counties. These are global changes and effect everything that is currently exported out of the US into Canada.

What we are doing is taking the necessary steps to try ensure there is no disruption in business.

The current process for exporting 3rd party firearms and related items does not look like it is going to change at this point.

So those of us caught in the changes last year and still have our paperwork sitting in limbo can expect to be in bureaucratic pergatory indefinitely?
Is there any way to reapply those paperwork to go down the new route of importing? Like if we got a refund, then had the sale made out to IRG and we pay you?

I'm glad you asked....Yes, that would fix the issue. The seller would have to refund you, you would forward us the funds and we would pay the seller. Sounds like a nightmare and it is, but that would work.
If this transition takes place March 9th it may also fix the issue, although there is no clarity in the upcoming regulations and we have yet to get anyone to commit to an answer to these questions.
Unfortunately, until we have a definitive direction as to which governing body will be regulating our industry our hands are somewhat tied at the moment.

That's good to know. I've reached out to the seller and cc'd admin@irunguns.ca on it regarding IO-2361.
I talked to you guys over the phone last week and had requested some photos of the firearm (it had been custom built and I have not yet seen it), it would be great if they can be sent back to the email address I cc'd you from.

    Thanks.
