Ohh, that's right, because we're not gun-grabbing neo-liberals. IMHO, this is a dog whistle for people that are alienated by our broken system, and need someone different to blame for their problems. I'm not passing judgement but pointing out a long-standing pattern that this behaviour stems from a lack of recognition that their grievances are the result of our self-serving neo-liberal political parties that don't represent us. We're all pawns for our leader's political career. These petty squabbles between left/right/center are tools to divide us and distract from the reality of our oppression. Please, let's stay united because we're all in this together !

Think about it, our economy is going to scheite alongside our political process. Many of us have lost our employment in the oil sector, our teachers and police are already feeling the pinch of austerity and our manufacturing sector isn't far behind. The rich owner-class (which compose the ruling-class) could never represent the working-class, because they never worked minimum-wage for a day in their life. They would lower minimum-wage in a heartbeat if they could get away with it.

A proper socialist party would have ample social programs to retrain our destitute workers and ease their transition into gainful employment in a new green economy, but instead we're left with skyrocketing debt and a housing crisis causing large parts of the middle-class to become homeless. Teachers, Doctors and Police cannot afford to live in the city. My endocrinologist drives 600km to Toronto everyday, to go to work, because she practically lives in her car. I can't tell you how many homeless Torontonians I've met living in a shanty in the woods next to a reserve, 1200km from Toronto. People are getting desperate and having nothing left to lose, violence and riots isn't far behind if our government doesn't smarten up and fix the problems they've collectively created. I'm not surprised the city is ripe with violence, it's to be expected. I can't imagine the hardship our public servants are experiencing, considering they're not getting paid for their labour.

Why do you think they're trying to buy back our long guns? They're not worried about smuggled prohibs in Toronto, they're trying to keep us pacified like mainland China, while we're turning into Brazil, by injecting money through disarmament rather than employment. As for the whole issue concerning "divorce", I don't think the US will be happy with Balkanization on their borders because it will lead to violence and political instability. We're better off as a united federation but our government is making damn sure we're all equally phoqued over except their financial interests, ofcourse. But, if you really want to leave our federation and fly an american battle flag, SVP crisser ton camp en paix.

Does anyone actually want to keep the monarchy? Seriously, this has to be a joke right ? You can keep your pedophile princes, I'll keep my Obrez, thank you very much.

George Orwell fought alongside socialists to protect democracy and fight the fascist scourge, during the Spanish Civil War. He later regretted not fighting for the federalist libertarian socialists specifically because the authoritarian socialists phoqued them over, HARD, and even called him a fascist for opposing the soviets influence. Please think back to history class, how WW1 lead to WW2. Germany was a democratic republic but when their economy collapsed, so did their democracy which lead to a multi-term rule by an authoritarian coward who would stop at nothing, except by his own hand.

Please learn from history, and never trust an authoritarian statist of any shape or colour or their promises of the benefits from divorce because they're lying by omission about the hardships associated while everyone stuck in the middle except their capital, ofcourse.
    Very well put.
If your trusting the rich and their trickle down economics to be there for you and yours when things inevitably go bad for you, you're in trouble. And right now, it appears WE all were. Because anybody posting here is obviously of the lower, tax paying economic bracket.

Capitalism/Communism both good theories in design. The common fatal flaw is the one same ingredient in both systems. People! People do things for different beliefs, motives, etc..Human nature dictates that things will go wrong because people are flawed. Apathy is a taught/learned behaviour. Our strongest desire is to survive but it has been suppressed for years living in societies and massive urban centres! It’s not by chance they are called concrete jungles. Strong pray on weak everywhere. They lies we are being fed now come from silver spoon suckers that didn’t have to work hard let alone at all. Politicians may get into politics to try to make a difference but mostly I think they just see pensions. Some have desires to control the people they feel are beneath them and too stupid to know what’s good for us! It’s much easier to talk down to people when they have no real serious means of objection. That is why they would prefer only the militaries and police forces under their control are equipped with firearms.

Lol. Oh lord man. Just stop. The whole reason those wars started was because of Communism. Also just a side note too, you and other left wingers the NSDAP was a reaction to Communist & Socialist. Hilarious you guys are.

It’s also funny how you guys claim Socialist policies are linked too things like Insurance lol and a citizen paying taxes for Health care.

I guess you guys were cheering at the Oscars when those 2 bald aliens were parroting “Unite the Workers of the World” lol. Pure straight out of the Communist manifestos. Oh man we need to break up this country.

The left is killing this country. Right now you have a bunch of Communist literally pushing for gun confiscation and paying us back with our own money. Lol.

As a PAL instructor in Calgary, I see people from all walks of life and all ideologies come through the course we put on. Old/young, left/right, conservative/liberal, gay/straight, trucks/hybrids... shall I go on?

The one common theme among them? They all want to join our sport/community.

Why are we trying to shoehorn gun owners into one group or another, when we clearly exist in all groups.

This "agreement" is a farce, and does nothing for the vast majority of gun owners and soon-to-be gun owners who just want to play with guns.

People are not the flaw in either Capitalism or Communism. At least not directly. In both Capitalist and Communist systems people can be free to pursue their own lifestyles, hold their own beliefs, and satisfy their own needs as they see fit, within the constraints of the chosen system. EIther of these systems can work beautifully in both theory and practice, on one VERY important condition. Freedom. Freedom to join. Freedom to leave. Both systems contain a risk of being both the exploiter and the exploited. As long as people understand and agree to those risks voluntarily, then its a fair game. There are many small communes in southern California that have operated on marxist-communist principles for half a century and they are thriving. They thrive because if an overly productive person feels they are exploiting, that person is free to leave without having to shoot their way out. If there are unproductive people who are being a drag on the commune, they are invited to leave, and they do. At a national level, communism always fails because there is a government who is imposing communism involuntarily on the masses, and it does not allow anyone to leave, and so the only way to protest is to try to burn the whole thing down.

Capitalism likewise always fails in practice, because there is a government who is trying to profit off of peoples psychological need for safety by selling them on the need for an oppressive state with a monopoly on violence, who in turn has to buy the support of the productive in order to tolerate the existence of parasitic government and its taxes.

As soon as you introduce involuntariness and state government into either communism or capitalism, you inevitably get a corrupt version of that economic system where some people are more equal than others, corporations in capitalism and the party apparatchiks in communism, who unfairly exploit the value of others while escaping the necessary consequences of that exploitation.

Society does not suppress our desire to survive. That is innate and people who do not desire to survive will not produce offspring. The problem with social society, is our concern for the weak and infirm leads us to supporting the less capable into adulthood and childrearing, which allows bad genes and poor attitudes to survive into the next generation. Survival of the fittest is what has allowed human beings to evolve to the top of the food chain. Everything about civil society is designed to subvert and destroy that natural selection process where by we are now sacrificing the fittest for the benefit of the unfit, and society as a whole is diminished as a result.

I am not convinced that any single politician seeks office just for a pension. Winning elections is far too much of a popularity contest for someone whose heart isn't in it to win. People seek office because they want to rule over other people, and think they know whats best for everyone, and want to avail themselves of existing power structures in order to advance personal agendas. Its not a problem that these people exist. Were it not for the creation and existence of those power structures, these people would just have to get a real job, and make a valuable product to sell at market for a fair price like everyone else.

It may take another thousand years or so, but hopefully people will realize that this whole notion of nation-state governance has been an abject failure that has killed more people in the last century than all of the interpersonal violence in the history of the species. The sad part is we will probably have to follow the post national global government model first, before people inevitably revolt against the whole thing and we get to a place where truly everyone is recognized as being equal, the whole planet is stateless, and all government is local and voluntary. Sigh.

So you admit every system fails because of certain people.
The hippy communes survive in a democratic capitalist state where their rights and freedoms = choices are protected by a constitution. Sounds like the best of both worlds, one supports or allows the other to exist. Having your cake and eating it to sort a speak.
As for following the post national global government model you speak of ( you aren’t in Africa with J now are you? ) The U.N. and their mandate of getting firearms out of civilian hands before instituting their mandate over the populations they get to control has the foreshadowing of the Empire or the New Order of science fiction but will probably resemble it rather closely in hindsight.
I share some of thoughts I’m just not as educated and eloquent in delivery as you.

Systems fail because government exists outside of the rules which govern people, and that exemption from the rules ultimately destroys the underlying principles of either system.

Democracy and capitalism are mutually incompatible systems.

Not sure why you are digging at me for Trudeau and the UN, maybe there is something about my post that you didn't understand or that I didn't explain very well. I don't support post-national global governance as a model, least of all by anything even remotely connected to the morally bankrupt and criminal enterprise known as the UN. All I was suggesting is that when people finally realize that national governance is a failed model, we will likely have to try something even worse before we realize that its not the level of governance, but the model of governance itself that is a failure.

It's always amazing when you see conservatives casually support ideas that are out-and-out crimes, when they're always shouting about us being the bad guys. What do you do with people who refuse to be forcibly relocated? What do you do when they fight back? Are you going to kill a family because they don't want to be uprooted from their home?

Anyway, it's too bad some people feel the left is killing the country, and it's too bad that so many of them seem to blame immigrants for it. Especially since they've moved on to blaming all immigrants, instead of hiding behind the fig-leaf of just hating on muslims. Because apparently some of them don't know that India, China, Japan, Persia, and other places have histories that go back just as far as Europe's, and sometimes even farther. Unless someone's going to claim they're 'culturally' inferior based on some very shaky evidence...

Sorry, I did give you a dig for suggesting we even try the U.N. model! I apologize it was cruel of me. The U.N. and the system they propose will lead to slavery and suffering on a global scale no one has seen before in my opinion. More wealthy people telling the poor how to live and what’s best for them as long as they follow the rules, their rules. Think Venezuela only bigger. Justin talks about improving the middle class but he and they have no idea or definition of what that is and will eliminate it if they can, let alone what a military assault rifle is. Something so sinister and evil law abiding Canadian’s should not have them and some how this will curb gang violence in T.O. I hope they ruin themselves and their party with all the lies they are feeding the people, if and when people open their eyes and ears to the propaganda and lies.
