The original poster was looking through the equipment exchange and saw an advertisement for a person looking to purchase a Leupold M8 fixed 3 power scope.

He was considering replying to the Ad, when he decided to wait until later that evening to compare the M8-3x with his newly purchased Vari-X III 1.5-5 power scope.

He was astounded at the extra light collection and the longer eye relief that the fixed power scope offered, and quickly decided to keep the M8-3x rather than letting it go.

He then requested a response from Korth Group as to the performance difference in his M8, not realizing that the simpler fixed power design has fewer lens elements, which leads to an increase in light transmission which translates to better low light performance, and just so happened to have a more forgiving eye box on top of that.

Now just let me know if you need that Jive-to-nerd translated into english
    Thanks. I needed the translation.

He has a half-tracked mind and unrelenting habit of self aggrandizing.

I thought they briefly reintroduced the fixed 3x (fxII not m8) a handful of years ago, but discontinued it a second time from lack of interest....

I read all the Red Wall books when I was little. The mole-speak from those childhood books allows me to read Looky's posts just fine also. Whooda thunkert?

This is correct - less lenses/internal working parts allow for greater light transmission.

Correct - an FX line was introduced a few years ago, but since discontinued due to lack of interest. It is a shame, as the fixed power scopes are awesome on lightweight hunting rifles where you only need one magnification setting.

    Keep it going folks,
