    Need a gun membership to transfer a restricted firearm?

    So my gun membership to a local place has expired. My buddy is liquidating his firearms and wants to give them to me. I know when I buy a new restricted, they ask for gun membership details. Do I need a membership to just do a transfer/transport back to my house from his and have them registered to me now?
