Coronavirus and its effect on food supplies.

As many of you are aware, the coronavirus has hit Canada already. Cases have risen from 1 to 33 in just over a month. We have a rate higher than the USA (106 cases yet 10 times the population).

While the virus can be treated and contained, panic is not as easy to contain. Manitoba, Sask, & Alberta have not seen any cases yet it is next to impossible to find hand sanitizer. Line ups at Costco are already taking place here.

Shipments of storable food are in grid lock as the producers are getting 10-20x the order volume in. We would normally carry around 100 cases of Wise Company & 2 dozen MRE star cases. We now have none and cannot get anymore. It not the end of the world, but we will soon see food shortages in the coming weeks. Please make sure you have enough groceries in case your supper market runs out!

    Thanks for the heads-up.

If you guys cannot secure more supplies then clearly it's a real run on the products.

Do you stock Mylar Bags and Oxygen Absorbers ?

Next best step would be to buy large bulk bags of Rice & Beans, Flour & Sugar and put them into bags.

Then, even if not needed for this emergency, they are available for 25 years and can be rotated into regular consumption.

On sunday when we were grocery shopping at 2 stores we noticed that there were no Bananas left. Really weird as they come from Central America. Has anyone noticed this in their town?

We are going to try to buy what ever we can, however since many distributors also have a retail side, they may hold back allot for their sales.

Not just food will be short. With China's manufacturing reduced to a small fraction over the past several weeks we will see shortages in everything from electronics to drugs. Not a theory. It's going to happen end of story. Other factories around the world have already been shutting down for weeks now too because they can not get supplies and precursors from China.

Not the end of the world yet no. But we are at the point we are all going to be affected at least somewhat. The damage has been done already. Hopefully it doesnt get even worse.

You are not wrong no. But even more to it than that. The Fed And banks are reducing interest rates right now and printing even more fake $$$. Recipe for disaster in the not to distant future.

India has announced they are blocking the export of 26 key pharmaceutical ingredients. Along with China they account for 80% of the worlds medication (both prescription and OTC).

Canada always plays second fiddle to the U.S. on the international market because sales to the U.S. achieve a higher premium (no price controls).

If you have a need for any meds, get that filled now.

Running large deficits in allegedly good times, both U.S. and Canada do this, is a so dangerous.

It's like a Musket Regiment shooting its load before the enemy is in range and then scrambling to re-load before the Bayonet charge hits them.

The Fed and the BoC are out of ammo, and all they can do now is give us negative interest rates and Weimar printing presses.
